Hi lovelies!!!

Sooooo if you haven't noticed, I haven't been blogging like I used to....or really at all! There has been a lot that has come up in my life (getting married, honeymooning, and a new career venture) that seem to have taken up all of my attention. But I wanted to let you know about a side project I have been working on for quite some time....Liminas Magazine!

Liminas Magazine is a concept that my friend Ashley and I came up with. It's an online women's magazine-blog hybrid dedicated to women in their twenties and thirties set to launch in January 2011.

The magazine will feature articles on beauty, health, style, etc., but geared towards women in our age group (moving in with a boyfriend before marriage, decorating your apartment when living with a man, career advice, anti-aging products that should be used now, fashion that looks like what you saw on the runway but at an affordable price, etc.).

Are you wondering what Liminas means? Here's a little background:

Liminas comes from the word Liminality. Ashley and I have long felt like we are in this period of our lives where we are in-between adolescence and adulthood-we don't quite feel like children, but at the same time we don't feel like adults. After having had this same discussion with a number of our friends, we decided to create a magazine that is dedicated to this period of our lives and the huge transition that each of us is going through. We and our readers are living in a liminal space.

Liminality: The transitional time or condition in which one is not what it was and not what it will become, but something in-between.

Liminas: A term we coined to describe women who {like us} are living in a liminal space, somewhere between adolescence and adulthood.

Remember when I mentioned Louisa Parris way back when?? Well she just sent me an e-mail letting me know that her Fall 2010 collection is now here! The way Louisa incorporates color into each piece is always a pleasant surprise, like a ray of sunshine peeking out from behind a sky of clouds. As beautiful as they are contradicting, the dresses appear to be as much flowing as they are sleek and can easily be imagined lounging poolside or worn to a gala ball.

Making a comeback from the 70's, fringe is making an appearance on the style scene just in time for summer festivals and concerts. Champagne and Cupcakes

Since my wedding is over a year away (next August), I wanted to do something to kick-off the festivities. I decided to invite all of the girls in my wedding party (bridesmaids, readers, greeters, etc.) to a "champagne and cupcakes" brunch to give everyone a chance to meet each other and so that I could recognize each person playing a role in my wedding. One of my bridesmaids, who has an innate sense of event design, thought it would be fun to create centerpieces and place settings for the table. I came up with this inspiration board....

Which turned into this...

So if you are looking for a way to officially ask your bridesmaids, readers, greeters, etc., a kick-off brunch is the perfect way to go. Come up with a theme, incorporate your wedding colors to give everyone a feel of your wedding style, and get ready to toast to the planning phase ahead. Need some help getting started? Below are the key items to the perfect bridal brunch.

(1) Paper Source has a huge variety of paper with different colors and designs that can be used under your centerpieces, as a table runner, or as placemats. Since it is paper, you can toss them out afterwards and not worry about people spilling food all over them. I used the gold and ivory paper shown above (top left).

(2) The restaurant provided champagne and I bought the cupcakes from Kara's Cupcakes in San Francisco. I had each person's initial put on top to personalize the cupcakes, but if you want to make them more wedding-related, you could put engagement ring keychains on the tops.

(3) Glass vases (which you can find at Michaels or Cost Plus) are perfect for your centerpieces and the Bud Vases/Name Card Holders are a cute way to do name cards.

(4) Since this is a kick-off party, it is the perfect time to officially ask your friends to be a part of your wedding. Take the time to write a sentimental note to each one, at the end asking "Will you Be My...". If you are interested in something a little extra, The Bridesmaid Guide is a cute gift to give your bridesmaids who may not know what being a bridesmaid entails.

So I know you thought I dropped off the face of the earth and I apologize for "leaving" without any warning a few months ago. I was pulled onto a side project (which will be revealed in the near future) without warning for the past couple of months that has kept me extremely busy without any time for blogging.

So first, to share some big news....I got engaged!!! That's right :) I'm now engaged and in the first stages of wedding planning, which means you will probably start seeing some wedding posts here and there.

Since it's been so long, I thought I'd kick-off with Chloe's Covets...

First and foremost, I am coveting the store Aritzia...well-known in Canada, I am only now just finding out about it (from my Canadian friend) and can't seem to stay away. Here are a few of my favorite pieces...a boyfriend blazer, collared boyfriend shirts, cropped t-shirts, and jersey skirts...

I am also living in thrashed denim at the moment...whether the style is boyfriend (right, Rich & Skinny) or skinny (left, Jet), I think thrashed denim completes the perfect look for summer....

And lastly, I am obsessing over LnA, the one-stop shop for all of your basics - tees, leggings, and simple day-dresses....

Hey there! It has been a while since I’ve posted here. My work schedule changed, making my commute longer and I have not had time to update. I am finally adjusting to my new schedule and work load, and have allotted time to be here, so you will be seeing me often from now on. I bet you missed me J Well, I’m back and getting right back into the swing of things.

It has been raining non-stop here and I am not well-equiped for the rain. Everytime it rains, I say that I am going to buy the rain essentials, but then the rain stops and I think it is the end of the heavy downpours for the season. However, I have been having this exact same train of thought since the beginning of February and the rain has not yet halted its miserable assault on San Francisco. Therefore, I am dedicated this post to rain essentials for all of you who are stomping through the puddles on the way to work with me.

After more than a few days of rain, a quick once-over of these photos by James Macari immediately produced a longing in my heart for the crisp air of a fall day. However, while I further examined the photos, thinking wistfully of the days that didn't require my wearing five layers to keep warm, I quickly honed in one other detail of the photos....Rodarte everywhere!! Oh, how my heartache intensified...only this time for other (obvious) reasons.

This week's designer of the week is Helen Hoppock Lubetkin who is the mastermind behind the Helena de Natalio handbag collection. Helen, who grew up in the San Francisco Bay area, found her inspiration as a designer when she joined the Peace Corps in 2003, and moved to Natalio, Paraguay, where she learned to sew after befriending the town's seamstress.

Helen describes herself as "a free spirit, inspired by travel, friends, family and the world around me." The bright colors, soft leather, and the ties to South American culture make this handbag collection distinct and desirable.

I will be at the bf's aunt & uncle's home tomorrow enjoying a delicious meal with his huge extended family. My favorite event of the day will be the wine tasting contest where each individual family has to taste test wines to determine what is what..whether I win or not, I will definitely enjoy the tasting :)

This picture pretty much epitomizes my ideal outfit...ok, yes I would most likely not step out of the house in that exact outfit - but I am inexplicably attached to the concept of it. I love how it mixes an ethereal romantic look with grunge creating a fashion statement that is undefinable (unless ethereal romantic/grunge counts, which I don't really think it does), but is definitely worth talking about.

I have basically been living in this RVCA haze dress ever since it arrived on my doorstep and am so enamored with it, I felt compelled to share.

Not only does it satisfy my zipper obsession with the zipper up the front & zippers on the pockets, but it is one of the most comfortable pieces of clothing I own and have found myself throwing it on again and again. I love the fact that I can completely change the look of the dress by what I wear underneath it and the shoes I wear with it.

Going through my inbox the other day, I see an email with the word "madness" in the subject line. I think it is probably spam and am just getting ready to click delete when my curiosity gets the better of me and I open it instead. To my surprise, it is an email from an Indonesian designer with a lookbook attached containing photos of a unique, interesting, and beautiful accessory collection called Project Madness.

Last year three young designers, Ajeng Dewi Swastiari, Bonnie Natasha Arif, and Agnes Stephanie Cathykana (all in their early twenties) started a design project called madness. Based in Jakarta, Indonesia, their first collection, Madness of Heritage, is a tribute to their culture.

Since I know we all can't resist big, bold, and excessive accessories, I think you will want to get your hands on this collection as much as I do...

That patch headband and bow necklace are calling my name....

So I was completely obsessed with Maurie and Eve when I saw their lookbooks for the spring & winter '08 collections a few months ago...but this obsession has deeply, deeply intensified with the release of their Summer 2009 collection, End of the Line. I seriously have anxiety right now because I feel like I need to purchase every single piece of this collection and right now....butterflies in my stomach....

In addition to my zipper obsession, I also have a little bit of an obsession with bandage dresses at the moment. This Miu Miu dress is a perfect combination of both of these obsessions and my heart aches for it....a zipper down the front, gathering in the middle, and material that hugs my body....

I can not describe how beautiful her designs are, you have to see them in person - splashes of bold & bright colors, armfuls of silky, flowing material, and designs that could make the worst body shape look like Gisele's....these are honestly some of the most gorgeous gowns I have seen in a very, very long time (and you know my obsession with gowns!)

I will hopefully be interviewing the designer later in the week and will have more pictures to post so you can see for yourself what I am talking about!

Designer of the Week: Pierre Hardy

So I know that I have been featuring a lot of shoe designers recently as my designers of the week, but when I saw Pierre Hardy's shoes, I absolutely could not resist posting about another shoe designer. These shoes are edgy yet sophisticated, while being jaw-dropping, drool-worthy, show-stopping pieces of art. I honestly believe that if I slipped my little feet into one of these pairs, I would be in pure ecstasy...

Rough Luxury...

I came across these photos of the London hotel, Rough Luxe, hotel posted over at Tea For Joy and fell in love. I love interior design & decor that looks stripped, rugged, and distressed, but never imagined a hotel to embrace this style. At Rough Luxe, they have done just that, creating an anti-luxury five-star hotel.

From the weather in San Francisco this weekend, you would hardly have thought it was mid-November. It was so warm and sunny that I almost fooled myself into thinking it was summertime again...so much so that I found myself lusting over the latest C&C California lookbook and was on the verge of buying some of these summertime looks until I pinched myself and realized I wouldn't be able to wear any of them for months. I will definitely come back to these when the warmer months roll around.

Erin Wasson is one of my style icons. I think that she pulls together outfits that are very unique & random yet stylish, and often something you yourself wouldn't think to pair together but always works on her. Luckily, Erin has joined forces with RVCA to create a line that emulates her style and allows us to attempt to reproduce it.

Rumi over at Fashion Toast was lucky enough to try out the collection before it has been made available to the general public. Beautiful and effortlessly chic, Rumi also puts together pieces I would never think of myself, consistently creating new and fashion forward looks. For this reason, I check her blog daily for outfit ideas and her outfits with pieces from Erin's line for RVCA are some of my favorites.

I have posted about this photographer (Lina Scheynius) in the past, but I was reminded of the beauty in the photography through another blog today and decided it was time to revisit. I love how the light is captured in these photos and for some reason, they convey to me that feeling of autumn...when the air begins to feel just a little crisper & chillier, the leaves begin to turn brilliant shades of red & orange, and you start wearing a scarf to protect yourself from the wind that has started to pick up (even if the rest of your outfit has not yet been adapted for the slight drop in temperature).

Trend Alert: Non-Designer Designers

I am sure that you have all noticed this new trend in the fashion world of non-designer designers. While some of these non-designer designers have left me wondering how in the world it was allowed to happen, others have left me looking forward to the availability of their collection.

One of the latter is the pairing of Peaches Geldof and PPQ. Designing a capsule line, Peaches Geldof has come out with a line that is girly, stylish, fun, and flirty. These are the only photos I could find at the moment of what can be expected of this capsule line, but it has definitely left me eager to see more.

Another non-designer designer that puts a smile on my face is the pairing of Lou Doillon and Lee Cooper. The new collection, titled "The Dodger," emulates Lou Doillon's very unique, slightly tom-boyish/slightly rock & roll style. I Heart RVCA...

Remember this RVCA bag I was coveting a few weeks back? Well...it arrived in the mail yesterday and it is even better than I remember...it's so, so, so gorgeous!

The leather is soft and beautiful with a satchel-like opening to a suede interior. It's over-sized (as is everything that is perfect and in style at the moment) which may be one of my favorite things about it - it's seriously big enough to carry anything from your books to all of your need-at-hand accessories (an AW beanie, feathered headbands, aviators, Chanel lip gloss, extra bauble rings...ok, maybe that's just describing the items in my bag).

This is seriously my most favorite accessory I have acquired in the past couple of months. Kind of Alexander Wang-esque, wouldn't you say? Ohhh, I love, love, love it and think you might too ;) You can purchase it here.

Designer of the Week: Jonathan Kelsey

This week, I am throwing the spotlight on another shoe designer, Jonathan Kelsey. This London designer is quoted as saying, "Designing statement shoes is about creating an emotional response; they should make you think with your heart, not your head." Once you see his shoes, you will no doubt agree with this statement because his shoes definitely tug on your heart strings. Each shoe is like a work of art - even "plain old" pumps have some sort of artistic touch woven into them.

I had trouble choosing just one favorite, so I posted a few...okay, a lot...of photos.

They are all so gorgeous! I want all of them!

Although I am featuring this designer later in the week, there was no doubt in my mind that one of the bags from the Helena de Natalio Spring 2009 collection was going to be this week's item of the week.

Love for Sophomore

I have been on the prowl for a zipper mini skirt and I just came across this one by Sophomore...I'm not sure where to buy this brand, but I think I need to find out asap...

After being introduced to Sophomore today by Nylon Magazine, I have become a bit hypnotized by the brand. It seems to ooze the "I just rolled out of bed and threw this on, but I still look amazing" vibe.

Their Spring '08 and '09 lookbooks were photographed by Cass Bird, an absolutely amazing photographer, who seems to capture the essence of each collection by shooting the models as if they were a group of friends just hanging out.

Am I just out of the loop with my not knowing of this brand - is anyone else a fan?

I think because just looking at this shot tells a story - the weather is warm, but slightly windy, the model is on a photo shoot where she walked along the water's edge, digging her toes into the wet sand as the water lapped around her ankles. She holds her dress up, draping it over her arms so that it won't get wet, laughing and smiling at the camera. At least that is what I imagined...

DIY - American Apparel Style

So I know it is last minute, but I finally decided on my Halloween costume - Cat Woman! And the bf is going to be Batman :)

I have decided to create my costume DIY style because doing it that way is so much better than those costumes in a bag. When going DIY, where else would I start other than American Apparel. Like the rest of the world, I currently have an infautuation with the store and have been spending way too much money there recently on anything and everything - it has pretty much become a staple of every single one of my outfits. So tonight I will trek on down to the AA on Union Street to finalize my costume. Here is what I am thinking...

And then I'll need to get either a catwoman mask or cat ears and a tail. Thoughts? What are you going to be for Halloween?
